Skin Cancer

Your skin is your body’s largest organ; skin cancer is more common than all other forms of cancer combined. Guarding against the damaging effects of UV rays is critical in protecting yourself against skin cancer.

We advise a regular habit of inspecting your entire body for any skin changes using the ABCD method (Asymmetry, Borders, Color, Diameter). If a growth, mole, sore, or skin discoloration appears suddenly or changes, call us to set up a consultation as soon as possible.

A skin cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming. At Dermatology Associates of Siouxland, PC, we are a full-service medical and surgical dermatology clinic. We consult with hundreds of skin cancer patients each year, putting particular emphasis on thorough skin exams, including mole screenings, and specializing in the detection and treatment of skin cancers. Because no two people are alike, we believe that no two treatment plans should be alike either.

Non-Surgical Treatment

Image-Guided Superficial Radiotherapy

We are the only skin cancer treatment facility within 200 miles that offers this type of treatment.

Image-Guided Superficial Radiotherapy (SRT) is a safe, painless and non-invasive treatment for keloids and non-melanoma skin cancer.

The Image-Guided SRT platform provides ultrasound imaging, which enables the dermatologist to assess the precise size of the cancer. The dermatologist then administers low-level X-ray energy that cures nearly 100 percent of basal and squamous cell skin cancers. Over 99 percent of patients who receive Image-Guided SRT therapy are satisfied with their outcomes!

Image-Guided SRT is safe. Shallow doses of X-ray energy cannot reach organs or underlying soft tissues. They leave behind zero residual radioactivity.

Image-Guided SRT is fast. Most sessions last about 15 minutes, and they are typically scheduled three to five times per week for a few weeks.

Image-Guided SRT is painless. Treatment requires zero cutting or bleeding, and it cannot cause scarring. There is no need for hospital visits, recovery periods or reconstructive surgery
